Welcome to The Internet Mathematics Challenge!
Every day we go about our lives without stopping to really look at some of
the interesting things that exist all around us. One of these things are
the shapes that can be found in buildings all over the world. Our math
teacher, Mrs. Houston, asked us to pick a building and find these shapes.
So...that's what we did! Mr. Trask, our computer teacher, taught us how to
use the Internet to research some really awesome buildings from all over the
world and then we went to work finding lots of shapes and angles on our
buildings. We downloaded pictures of our buildings and used PaintShop Pro
to show the geometric figures we found. We designed this web site to show
you what we found and to see if you can find lots of shapes and angles
too! Let us know how you did! Write to us at mathproject2001@vcs.u52.k12.me.us
and tell us about yourselves! We'll post your responses on this web site
to share with kids all over the world.
If you'd prefer...we've added a guest book
so you can let us know what you think without emailing us (for those folks
without email accounts)

*Shhh! It's a secret....our teachers have told us that there are some mistakes on our web pages...can you help us find them? They may be spelling errors, grammar errors, or even shapes that we identified incorrectly. Send us an email and let us know what we missed! Thanks for your help...from the 8th grade students at VCS! Click here to email us (don't forget to tell us what page it's on)
| Notice to teachers: These web pages contain very large images that will take several seconds to download on a fast internet connection. This page was designed with schools in mind and most schools (at least in Maine...have T1 speed or greater) If you have a slow internet connection and would like to have our web site on a CD-ROM for faster viewing....let us know and we'll try to send you one. Email me at dtrask@vcs.u52.k12.me.us |
Can you see what we see? Click on the "Our buildings" button on the menu to the left or click the buildings listed below it to see what we found!
